Meet our team
Chris Tomlinson is responsible for developing the Petero Civoniceva Foundation’s strategies and focus. Chris oversees all the Foundation’s core functions, including finance, operations and communications. He leads on stakeholder engagement and has been tasked with developing and implementing engagement programmes, in partnership with organisations, to address identified needs in Fiji.
Chris holds a BA degree in Sport and Recreation Management and has several years’ international experience in Australia and China. He worked as Liaison Officer with Fiji Bati Rugby League during the Rugby League World Cup 2013 in the UK. Chris is also a UKCC Level 2 rugby league coach. Prior to the Foundation, Chris held a number of senior positions including management roles in the community departments of Hull Kingston Rovers and Huddersfield Community Trust – the charity responsible for Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town Football Club. His most recent role was Football Operations Manager with London Broncos in the European Super League. Chris has a wealth of experience developing and evaluating community initiatives in line with organisation’s corporate social responsibility ideologies. He has previously served as a Trustee on the board of a charity.
Lauren leads the development and delivery of all of the Petero Civoniceva Foundation’s delivery strategy and programmes.
Lauren is a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Education in PE from London Metropolitan University as well as a BA Hons degree in Physical Education from Leeds Metropolitan University. Lauren was the head choreographer and dance captain for the Huddersfield Giants Super League team for three years, as well as training at the Northern School Of Contemporary Dance.
Over the last six years Lauren has devoted herself to educating children through sport. She has managed her own Sport and Dance Company offering physical education lessons to children in curriculum time, afterschool clubs and summer camps. Lauren is passionate about sport and all that it entails and is a true believer that physical education can help a child develop a better social understanding and a deeper appreciation for their physical and mental well-being. Lauren has first-hand experience of the “power of sport” in disadvantaged communities having taught underprivileged children in Bhopal, India.
Petero is a Fijian born Rugby League star who is dedicated to motivating young people in Fiji to reach their potential. Petero is a true ambassador of professional sport having played for the Brisbane Broncos for over a decade and playing in thirty State of Origin games representing the Queensland Maroons. In 2013 Petero captained Fiji Bati to the semi-finals of the Rugby League World Cup at Wembley Stadium.
