$15k For Petero Civoniceva Foundation
Rugby league legend Petero Civoniceva received a timely boost of $15,000 from Asco Motors in aid of the Petero Civoniceva Foundation.
Speaking yesterday at the sponsorship announcement in support of the ‘Dash for Diabetes’ event being held on November 14, the former Fiji Bati skipper acknowledged the support.
“It’s been very exciting. Obviously, to free our foundation that corporate support is here in our delivery of our programming.
“The fact that we’re putting together this ‘Dash for Diabetes’ and the partnership with Asco Motors will go a long way towards holding what’s going to be a wonderful event. We’re very excited and again very thankful to Asco for partnering with us in support of this event.
“One of the key aims when we established the Foundation just under 12 months ago was to promote healthy choices and encourage people of all ages to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
“The growing issue in Fiji of non-communicable diseases is why the foundation is committed to developing inclusive and engaging initiatives to appeal to children, parents and families in general.
“Five kilometres is an ideal distance for whole families to have fun together whilst getting the required amount of exercise. We’re really excited about the partnership which will see the 5k Dash for Diabetes held in Suva on International Diabetes Day on November 14.”
Presenting Civoniceva with the sponsorship cheque, Asco Motors acting chief executive officer Ronal Kumar hailed the partnership a positive step forward for the company.
“This is a new way forward for Asco Motors as we engage more corporate social responsibility initiatives. This Foundation sponsor will allow us to involve our people in various CSR initiatives in their calendar.
“With this sponsorship commitment of fifteen thousand dollars, Asco Motors assumes the naming rights sponsor to the Foundation’s ‘Dash for Diabetes’ programme, an annual 5km run in the heart of Suva city which takes place on National Diabetes Day.”
Kumar also announced the iconic sportsman as the new Brand Ambassador for Toyota in Fiji.
